Mealworm question

trevoro Oct 15, 2003 05:29 PM

Just got some mealworms today for the first. When they say to keep them on bran, are Kelloggs bran flakes good enough or do they have other stuff added that is no good.

Hi!

That should be fine. Quaker Oats works well, or corn meal. You can also use chicken feed (the finely ground stuff).

Good Luck!

P.S. Also, I'd use a capful of cricket water in a little dish or tupperware top instead of potatoes for a water source - less smelly!

If you use dry "Gut-load" for crickets, you can use it for mealworms too. And they love the stuff. I put just enough in an air-hole container and put them in it.
