newb question ...

scarface Oct 15, 2003 07:00 PM

this is the first time i switch to adult mice for my ball, he's a bit over 20 inches, i've been feeding him hoppers for 3 months now. i just got him an adult, the adult mouse (3 inches long) seems to be just a bit wider than my ball. should i still feed it to him?

thanks in advance

If it's just a little bit wider you should be OK. Make a judgement call on it. If it looks like he'd have trouble with it then give him something a bit smaller. If the widest part of his body and the mouse you're feeding are pretty close then you should be good IMO.

thx for quick reply , the mouse is being thwed out right now, 20 mins and i'll give it a try.

in case of regurgitation, what should i do ?

Remember, as the prey is eaten, its body is slimmed down - compression and elongation. So if the prey is slightly larger, it is most likely fine. I would not worry about him regurging.

If it is regurged after it has made it all the way to the stomach, wait at LEAST two (preferrably three) weeks to try and feed it again. This will give the critters throat time to heal from the stomach acid coming back up. If it just backs off as it is eating, and doesn't finish, try again in a few days.
