Making a design change in cage decor...

LeeFobes Oct 15, 2003 08:31 PM

Im going to add alot of stuff, and change around some stuff for my BP cage. basically now, its a 29 gallon Tall aquarium with hiding spot on one side, water bowl in the middle, and drift wood on the other. Im planning on making it alot for decorative and more hiding spots for it. i have 50$ i can spend on decor. what should i get? i use Forest Bark (substrate similar to repti-bark) so id like it to match that. the Hiding spot is a terra-nova cave XL size under neath a 5 gallon size heat mat that covers JUST the XL cave. he comes aout alot, so id like to make it better for him and as natural looking as possible. remember 50$ is my limit, but may be able to squeeze 10-15$ extra out. im open to all suggestions. If you can, please attatch your cage setup that has driftwood and natural decor.

Thanks in Adavnce, Lee

I have too many snakes to do this. However, I did have one display cage for one of my BPs once. Whatever you add, ensure it's easy to maintain. If it takes 30 min to clean a cage, you are more likely to skip cleanings. This can lead to an unhealthy environment. I do have a couple dislpay cages for my Chondros, but they don't "mess" nearly as much as BPs. Still the cages need to be taken outside and completely cleaned from top to bottom. This means removing everything

how would i remove a UTH, the manual said never to remove it once it is adhered to the bottom of the glass?? for cleaning right now, i take out the substrate, and wash the inside with a mixture of steamy water, and cold water. Hot water going in first to remove stuff and clean the cage, cold water to cool the cage and clean excess stuff.

I have never stuck the UTH to the cage. No reason to.

UTH - Under TANK Heater. When I used one, it was under an aquarium tank. I did not glue it or otherwise adhere it to the tank.

I use an aquarium stand too - and I have to adhere the UTH to the bottom of the tank. The stand has an open top part that you rest the tank on; therefore, the bottom of the tank is exposed - not really sitting on anything. That's why I have to adhere it. Sounds like maybe that's what he has?

exactly, thats what i have. Maximum airflow to the heater, and it supplies heat directly to the hide spot...
