This ones simple. Black-light, use it at night, or forget it completely?

I guess it depends on what you want to use it for. A blacklight gives a nice effect inside the tank at night, but they unfortunately don't throw off very much heat.

If you're just going for some sort of lighting the leo can't see I'd recommend a simple red heat lamp on the warm side of the tank.

iuse just a plain black bulb i got at wal-mart for a buck,it keeps the tank at 81 during the night,find it in the halloween section

i think the black light is used a lot more so you can see what your leo does during the night. it doesn't give out too much heat, so that might be good if it's already warm in your house or in the tank. if you want one that generates more heat for your leo while making it easy for you to see what he does at night, you can try getting a red bulb or a blue bulb. i have the red bulb because that's the only one that was left at the pet store... i wanted the blue one!!!
