A Couple Of Questions...

RedQuake Oct 16, 2003 09:55 AM

Does anyone else have a very dark blizzard gecko? Bronx has looked like this since i got him but i didn't think he looked that dark in the pic i got from the breeder. He's eating well and active, even when i'm around. This pic is the one i got from the breeder. A newer pic is down the list a bit.

Also......with my new unit on its way to being built, i was wondering the best way to light it. Theres only about 5"-6" of space above each tank (much more space and i'd have to get a step ladder to reach the top LOL). I saw at Home Depot, Halogen lights that fit in to the wood and 3 of them are in a series. Theres going to be three shelves (not including the very top) to this unit so it'll only take up three plugs and reduce the amount i have plugged in.

I have a halogen long arm lamp that can get really hot. Its huge compared to the lights i'm talking about but does anyone think it could get to hot? Is that type of light Ok? Its mainly for keeping a day/night schedule going and will be on timers.

Thanks for any input

I would use some smaller flourescent fixtures above each tank. The bulbs last a long time have minimal drain and look great. Assuming your only using these for day and night time simulation then these would work fine. They also are cool running and don't put off much heat. Mounting these above each tank on your rack/shelf/visual system would be fairly easy as well. Hope this helps.

Thankyou for the idea

Can flouresents be put on a timer? All of the ones i've had needed to be held down so that the light would come on. Timers wouldn't work in that case.

I would like some lighting that would add alittle heat. The air temps can get chilled sometimes, even with the heater on. I'm installing a baseboard heater again so hopefully that will keep the room temp up. If that works i'll go with your idea for sure

Thanks again
