I'm a complete idiot (lost chameleons)

jenstorm Oct 16, 2003 11:44 AM

Well, I stupidly left the door to my baby Jacksons cage open yesterday. When I went in this morning they were all gone.

I keep my chameleon cages in our greenhouse, which is medium-sized, but has a ton of plants in it.

Anyway, so far I have found five out of seven (they were in the plants pretty close to each other).

Haven't found the other two yet, so if any of you have suggestions I would really appreciate it.

I misted all the plants in there really well, and I'm sure they will be able to find insects here and there.

Thanks in advance,

Jennifer

p.s. they are about 7 weeks old

Finding 5 out of 7 baby Jax isn't so bad. Heck, that's pretty lucky.
If they're in a greenhouse, chances are good that it won't get too cold for them. You've mentioned that they also have plenty of bugs to eat. Sounds like they'll probably survive if you leave them where they are. Just give plenty water.
My suggestion: let these two free roam for a while. Talk to Alan Vines about his set up. He somewhat has this setup already. If you find them, great. If not, don't worry so much.

Put a small spotlight, a dish of ripe fruit in an observable corner. The warm fruit should attract fruitflies or gnats and they will attract the chams hopefully! Also the spotlight may trigger the chams to come bask in early morning or late afternoon.

I will try the fuit and spotlight to try and find the last one.

Thanks again,

Jennifer
