Darren179 Oct 16, 2003 05:51 PM

Alright I have an Incubator and everything I am a first time breeder. The eggs are of a few days when they hatch would you suggest keeping them seperate fromt he parents I have heard a variety of opinions. The tank is 4 feet by 2 feet and 4 feet high with 2 levels with lots of hiding and basking areas. Thanks in advance

DEFINATELY KEEP THEM SEPARATE! I do not breed them yet but almost every lizard species will either eat or kill their babies. I think everyone will agree with me on this one. But good luck with your babies!

Cricket FREE babies!

You said " I have heard a variety of opinions"

Who in the world said you should keep them together?????

The only way you should do that is if you don't want the babies.
(I'm not recommending this guys,, just making a point)

They look like little crickets to big dragons and will disappear just as fast.

I am so glad you did ask though,, they would have been gone before you knew what to do.

Good luck.

If you have an incubator, why are your adult dragons in it? You incubate eggs in an incubator, adult dragons shouldn't be in it at all. Incubator temps are not high enough for an adult dragon basking requirements.

Unless you mean your female is a few days away from laying her eggs? In which case, you should have a lay box ready for her to lay her eggs in. Once she has done laying her eggs, remove the eggs from the lay box, making sure you keep the eggs same side up as you put them into the incubation material (vermiculate or perlite). You can use a non toxic marker to put a dot on the top of the eggs so you know which side is up. Then put the eggs in the incubator. Average hatch times are betweeen 60-70 days I beleive.

Once they hatch to put them in there? Either way...they would just be bite sized snacks to a dragon.
