Hi

I gave my snake a mouse i killed a week ago and it ate it with no problem, but now i try with frozen mice it just crawls over it like he isnt realizing its not part of his environment hehe.
I think it might be the frozen mouse has no smell...
So how can i make the frozen mouse a bit more attractive for him?
I dont have live mice or rats to rub it against or any lizzards
and yes i first let the mouse get to room temparature =)
any idea's or tips?

greets,

narco

Yep...warm the mouse up to about 100 degree F. That's about the normal body temp for a mouse. And...be sure the snake is hungry. This time of year they will start going off feed because of the falling temperatures, shorter days, etc. Some will not want to eat again until spring time.

Are you sure that the snake cant get any disease from the warm meat because if we humans take meat ou tof the freezer and it hits a high temparatuur you get pretty ill.

Well, hopefully you're not going to let it stay that way until it rots...just warm it up to about 100 degrees and feed it to the snake. Some snakes will even eat fairly putrid rats with no ill effects, anyway.

Well when I take meat out of the freezer I generally cook it to a high temp before I eat it. lol Just kidding, I knew what you meant.
