Brand new sneezing rats....

LeeFobes Oct 16, 2003 07:28 PM

i bought 3 small rats from the petstore today, they have been kept on carefresh bedding (the paper stuff) and when i brought them home, all three sneezed for a minute, and 2 died down, but the one still kept sneezing, will this kill them?

Depends on what it is. I had the same prob. and brought one to my vet and gave me medication I gave it to the group for a while (2wks) and it died off. Plus the pet store rats are sometimes kept in crappy conditions and therefore get sick from all the ammonia and other diseases from over crowded. Keep them clean and try to get one to the vet. I spoke to one guy and he said he would never bring something so cheap to the vet. But I am going for production and can't have little crap like this slow them down. Once you get going then you can use your own supply to keep you going and won't have any problems. Or buysome from someone you know who is breeding them.

As long as it's not sneezing when you kill it, who cares? It's a feeder, not a pet.
