dry food?

sojdas Feb 08, 2003 03:10 PM

I have read that people feed dry food to their uro's, what types of dry food do you use and is it healthy for them?
thanks!

I use Kaytee Rainbow Parrot mix. My Uros love them. Since they are primarily made from seeds and grains they are a good diet for Uros. They prefer them to any BD pellets I've tried.

Just my 2 cents.

I use a mix of the following:
-bagged birdseed with the sunflower seeds removed;
-Dry juvy iguana food
-split lentils
-split peas
-and for the "treat" bee polen granules

Rocky hits his bown daily.

I use dry as well. But not as the ONLY food for them. I have 2 dishes..one for the fresh veggies, and one with dry such as lentils, split peas, finch food, and iguana pellets. I rotate them around to keep it interesting. I think its good as like "roughage" for them. Mine sure do like to eat it!

How old should a uro be to be fed birdseed? I heard it's not good to feed it to juvis. Any suggestions?

I'm not on the exact age they can start eating the birdseed. Maybe check out the caresheets to make sure (or even call someone like Doug Dix). I've not ever had juvies so I am uncertain.

Sorry I'm not much help!
