The Best Brooks Kings

jjl Oct 16, 2003 09:49 PM

I am looking for someone who has real South Florida Brooks kings that are not het for anything. The ones that are almost patternless. In my opinion a really good looking normal Brooks looks better than any morph.

Thanks. She was produced by Dave B. The hatchlings are not as colorful as some brooks I've seen, but they sure turn out nice.

How would you rate this girl?........and she is a normal. Some people think she's axanthic.

thanks

She reminds me of some that I saw that had been caught near Turkey Point. Except they had more black. Possible descendant?

I have no idea of locality on this beauty. I got her from Lloyd Lemke in '94 and she turned into this awesome white animal. When I first bred them in '97, I kept back a pair of axanthics and one normal female, which turned out just like mom. Too bad I sold the normal before I knew what I had. But......I have another pair I kept from last year that are looking to be better than their mom. There's hardly any yellow on them. Can't wait to see them as 5' monsters. Here's a pic of one of the yearlings. The orange disappears after about 1.5-2 years. This was taken at about 7-8 months old. I'll try to get some new pics of these soon.

Brandon, I have admired that animal since I first saw a photo of her a few years ago. I have seen only two other animals that compared to her in a collection about fifteen years ago. They were also the largest getula I have ever personally seen (approx 80" I would assume you have proven with breeding trials that that appearance is not a simple recessive? Do you not have both known strains of axanthic as well as her?

Anyway, she is an absolutely incredible animal

Thanks Bart,
Who had these two in their collection? Very intersting to see that they were that large. This is not a simple recessive as you mentioned, but is regularly passed on to offspring. Kind of like children looking like one parent more than the other. I do have both strains of axanthics. Man, this year's gone by fast. Brumation is only a few weeks away.........I do need a serious break too. lol.

Here's a pic of an '03 white.

thanks

Brandon,

Guy's name is Steve Cade. Last I heard from him he lived on the GA/AL border somewhere. Nice guy. Always had these incredible animals (size & appearance) Huge Drymarchon, Spilotes (he had a pair of these that were easily 8' and black and orange instead of yellow, to this day I haven't seen another like them), a true taped 6' Corn, A 5' solid ORANGE goini. His husbandry left alot to be desired though....sorry if you are reading this Steve. But MAN it felt like I had mites after I left there..... But also I haven't seen his collection in many years, so maybe things have changed.
