today was my first day on the board, i was skimming through it, kept looking at your pics of your collareds, man are they beautiful!!!
i just got my collared a few months ago i took some time to learn what i could, i have 2 iguanas one is 5 ft, figured i would try another reptile i like the challenge.
my one thing i dont understand quiet yet is how big do collareds get, one place says they get to be about 12 inches, yet another said they get to be about 16 to 18 inches??

and i know heat rocks are bad but can they
be used under the sand as extra heat? or is that not recommended?
i have a heat mat under the tank hes in.
oh and how do you sex collareds?

Welcome, its usually alot more busy here, and nutty sometimes, but a great bunch! As far as size, 12 - 14 in. is usually max. I have a wc male who is exceptionally large(KOng) he is 15 1/4 inches, maybe a tad more by now.

I do not use heat rocks, but there are many on here that do and like them alot, (FOR COLLAREDS) as collareds, are used to the heat and tolerate it well. They do not recommend them for other lizards though. You can post another message and ask someone else that uses them, they could probably help you better in that area than I can. I sure hope you enjoy your little friend, they are alot of fun to watch, and very friendly lizards.

how i got the user name..... i have a thing for ferrets, i have 7 who i took in after no one else wanted them, i have seven.
then i have 2 ferrets tattoed on my leg, and one tattoed on my back ) and i wear a necklace that says "i love ferrets" my dad bought it for me a few months before he passed, so it never comes off my neck.

they are cute , and very playful. I used to paly with a friends, actually funny, kind of a coincidence, I was getting a tatoo, few years ago, and the place where I got it had an albino ferret running around the waiting room, I was playing with him the whole time. Yeah I have tatto's too, hhehehe feminine ones !

Anyway, I dont have a ferret but i have a squirrel who is a blast to play with also! Eve

Welcome to the board my Ferrett loving friend!My wife has three ferrets and I find myself in tears laughing at the little retards. They play/terrorize our cat and mini-wiener dog and do the funniest acrobatic stunts. Great pets! Not as great as reptiles but cool never the less.
