Talked to the nice people at Zoogen again today, and for the tidy sum of about 5000$ plus blood samples from 10-20 known males and 10-20 known females, they can create a DNA test for PTS. The Komodo dragon test was created via a Smithsonian grant to Zoogen. Amazingly enough, I know a herp lover that would probably donate the $ if it can be a tax deduction (research grant?)- but can we come up with 20-40 PTS to donate blood?
I have 4 known PTS (2 male & 2 female) which will contribute to the cause....
Brian/Sherri/Susan & others- what do you think?

Sherri and I would be more than happy to work with you on writing a Research Grant. This is very important method that as Gaurdians of Corucia would be a wonderful tool to have to absolutely determine sex.
If you have the current issue of Reptiles magazine (November 2003), on Page 6 under MAIL BAG, the first letter by Joy Halveron DVM mentions what is involved with individual testing.

There are 40 Corucia at LEE/1 and 11 at LEE/2. Even being Conservative, We can offer at least 20 known sex Corucia for testing.
However, the costs would have to come from the funding allocated from the grant. I am not trying to sound cheap or uncooperative-it's just that at $25 a pop we can't go there.
