Shedding Habits: Eating? Handling?

CryptCobra Oct 17, 2003 12:42 AM

I discovered why my baby corn wasn't eating or moving...he was shedding. I came downstairs after an hour to two to discover his completely intact shed.

My question:

How long after a shedding should you attempt feeind and handling? My snake shed at about 9:00 pm tonight. Would tomorrow night be a good time to attempt feeing or handling?

Thanks.

(As you can guess, I'm a new snake owner, who doesn't know a lot and has a lot of questions!)

You can feed it anytime. As far as handling, mine seem a little more sensitive just after they shed. It shouldn't be any problem if you want to handle it.
Personaly I would go ahead and feed it first, then leave it alone for a couple of days before I handled it, but that's just my opinion.

I usually wait until the next evening to feed mine, but I have had numerious eat minutes after they shed. As far as handling I usually wait a day. It will not hurt the snake, but they are more sensitive for a little while. They usually act a little squirmish.
