Vitamins and Calcium

LeoBeginner Oct 17, 2003 06:27 AM

Hi everyone,

A couple quick questions about supplements from a beginner.

What is recommended as far as a vitamin supplement? I know they can OD on D3, so it shouldn't be used in every feeding, but what kind of vitamin supplement should be used and how often (every other feeding? every other feeding every other week?) Any recommendations on what to use? (particularly something that's available in the Toronto region) Do they sell calcium/vitamin combo powders?

I will have a calcium dish in the habitat, but I suspect I should be dusting the food with calcium as well. Since they can't OD on calcium, should this be done every feeding, every other feeding, etc.?

Thanks,
Blaine

I can't tell you if these items are available in canada or not. I leave a dish of pure calcium(phosphorus free,no d3)in their container, available at all times.I also leave my mealworms in this dish, they are also available at all times. I alternate my dusting. Monday I dust with with herptivite multi-vitamins. Tuesday dust free plain feeders. Wednesday I dust with the prue calicum. Thursday dust free plain feeders. Friday I dust with calcium with d3. Saturdays no food, its cleaning day. Sundays i rotate the dusting 1 sunday vits,1 calcium, 1 d3, 1 dust free and repeat.

what i do for my leo is...

i use REPITIVE as his vitamin supplement and i only dust his mealies every other day.

i use REP CAL as his calcium supplement and leave it in a separate "calcium" dish. since leos can regulate their intake, they know when to head for their dish or not. i also add some of this calcium powder into the gutload for the mealies

both of these are available in pet stores

there are vitamin/mineral powders, but i heard that they degrade each other and eventually won't help your leo out as much as it should. i also hear MINER-ALL is good for your leos, but i have yet to try it
