at some point probably next week i am going to get a new lizard after losing my b&w tegu last week. but i am having trouble on deciding what kind of lizard to get. i am looking at eiher a red or blue tegu, black throat monitor, or a group of aussie water dragons. but how tame do red and blue tegus get? and whick on will be the biggest?

I dont know much about blue tegus but I know that red tegus get to be around 4-4 1/2 ft. long. As for tameness, red tegus are really easy to tame. Good luck. Hope u find the right lizard.

I agree, the Red Tegu are the tamest, as well as the largest. I remember when all mine were under a year. I had everybody in the same large cage. The reds grew faster and became less tolerant of the others. But they have never attacked me. Out of all my tegu, I really only have one that I am careful with. She's a little nippy at times (Chacoan Female) and by the way she's for sale. Her and her very tame sister and boyfriend. But I'm keeping my reds! Check classifieds for Chacoan and Argentine Black and Whites... Thank you!

he is beautiful. but i have to wait to get another lizard. i need to clear it with my parents.

Please remember that a tegu is a big resposability and will be so for its lifetime (10 years or more). Don't know how old you are but remember if you leave home you need to take a 4 ft 20 lbs lizard that eats rats and fruit with you or your parents need to care for it.

PLEASE PLAN AHEAD!
