Q about UV lighting set-up with heat lamp

Bezzerra May 28, 2003 03:58 PM

I do not own a bearded dragon, yet, however I hope to purchase one in the near future. I have a 20L terrarium that I want to use until he outgrows it.

I have been reading a ton of care sheets that say I need a regular light bulb for a basking light on one end of the cage and a UV light that runs across the entire length of the cage.

My question: The top of the cage is made of that mesh material. When I used it for my red-tailed boa, I screwed the bulb inside a light fixture and placed it directly on top of the screen. How do I place the UV light across the entire length of the cage if I have this kind of aquarium top?

Any pictures would REALLY help. Thank you so much for reading my post!

Hi
this light am testing out now its a saving light i looks like a normal saving light to save$
you can srew it into a normal fitting and then next that fitting you make a second fitting for a baskingspot .
both togheter r the simulation of the sun the uvb light for the ultra violet beams, and the baskingspot shape light for the heat !!
115-110 for small beardies and for adult 110-105 on the hotest spot .
also be shure you have a cool side round the 80.
also know r the fluerocent light like a reptisun 5.0 those r also good and also need a baskingspot .
you also have new kinda light called mecury vapour light and those need a bigger cage !!
so for a small cage i would loook if you can buy a small reptisun 5.0 r the link i showed is a nice one to .

Is it possible to cut or remove half the width of the screening? This way the UVB bulb is not sitting on the screen? Another possibility is to get rid of the mess altogether, just make sure the logs/rocks that you have in teh enclosure are not too high (don't want it to jump up and get out or touch the hot bulbs). As 20gal isn't very big and a baby dragon will outgrow it in about 4 months (from hatching) might be able to get away without a top. You can get a lamp clamp to hold the basking light (home depot sells them cheap).
