how do snake drink water?

Well, so far my observation of my ball python is that he dips his mouth down into his water dish and drinks the water, not lapping with the tongue like a dog or cat would.
At least, I'm fairly certain that he's drinking when he does that, as his mouth is in the water and the muscle movements in his skin sure look like swallowing to me.

yeah, snakes basicaly suck in the water through their mouths.
