What time do you run you lights...

kyle1745 Oct 17, 2003 08:28 PM

Right now I am run mine from 5:30am - 7:30pm, but i am switching to 9am to 9pm tonight. It is just too much to feed the frogs before I go to work in the morning. So I will start feeding them at night around 7pm.

Just wondered what everyone else does...

I run my lights from 8:30 am to 10:30 pm for the reason you just mentioned. My leopard frog is on the same timer as my fish tanks.
Please note that I have only had the frog for 2 wks and the fish tanks for 3 to 4 yrs. I feed the fish in the morning and the frog at night. Works for me, seems to work for them.

Mine is on from about 7AM-8:30PM. Even when the lights go out and I come home late one day for some reason, I just feed with the lights out. The Tinc. I have will come out with ambient room light and wiggling ff in sight. Shouldn't be a problem since they are diurnal. I just avoid going too far into the night since I want her to get her rest.

I switched mine last night and it was funny to see the frogs hopping around in the dark this morning. They will get used to it, but for me it will give me less to do at 5am when I get up for work.

I agree with you completely. I have to wake up at 5 AM, and would love to just feed in the evening. Problem is, that my frogs will be in the same room as my chameleon, and he has to have such strict light requirements, that the sulight coming through at 9 in the morning will stress him out....I am stuck doing it at 5 AM
