I found some Ranco thermostats, but listed in their specs is said NEMA 1 on a couple and NEMA 4X on a couple of others. Is this in reference to the number of recepticals in can handle or what is it? Thanks.

The NEMA rating is used for electronic enclosures and describes the ability to withstand environmental conditions and/or weather. NEMA 1 is rated for indoor use with occasional contact with falling dirt. NEMA 4, 4x is indoor/outdoor use with resistance to falling dirt, snow or rain. This is a much more expensive enclosure.

I had seen it and just couldn't put 2 and 2 together. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
