What would be a suitable prey item for a dekay's brown snake. Would mealworms work?

What would be a suitable prey item for a dekay's brown snake. Would mealworms work?

I believe earthworms are the prefered food, also mealworms(or all the mealworms I've been in contact with) are hard bodied, if I remember correctly hard bodied insects aren't as good as soft bodied.. but I might be wrong
Agreed. Worms, slugs, and maybe even small salamanders would work. They need softbodied inverts. Anything with a crusty exterior will likely be left alone. Andy

Actually they will eat some snails, they just suck out the snail and leave the shell.....It's really really cool

Well...that sort of is the same thing. Snails are just slugs with a shell :-p. Andy

They won't eat mealworms. Try earthworms and slugs. But don't feed them worms called "red wigglers". Some people have had success feeding these to their herps, but others (myself included) have not had good experiences with them (e.g., my brown snakes & ornate box turtles refuse to eat them).
I feed my brown & red belly snakes mostly chopped up nightcrawlers & an occasional slug.
