For babies, the best substrate is paper towel, butcher's paper, newspaper or the plastic shelf liner for cupboards is nice too Mattman's idea).

Crushed walnut shells aren't supposed to be good, though I have never used it.
I've looked at the lizard litter and don't see sharp edges...*shrug*

Honestly, if you're choices are either the lizard litter or sand, go with the lizard litter. It smells nice :P

i wouldnt reccomend them to anyone, for a baby use papertowels, butcherspaper, or even non slip shelf liners... when he is older you can switch to something like washed playsand if you feel the need to

I read the whole thread, then responded to the first post.
Don't ask me why there's a post under Reiko's.
I didn't put it there.

Crushed walnut will probably kill your dragon, if it's ingested.

However, it's my understanding that lizard litter is ground, not crushed. It is no more sharp-edged than play sand, it's just a little larger grained.

I personally have 3 dragons that have been kept on ESU's Lizard Litter for a couple of months now, and have also kept iguanas on it, all without any problems.

The second thing I believe Reiko is correct on is that crushed or ground, walnut shell is not appropriate for dragons under 10 inches in length. But then neither is play sand.

Just my opinion, and worth exactly what you've paid for it.
