when they're younger, leos can shed once every 3 to 6 weeks depending on age... as adults, it takes a month or a few months before it sheds again - leos continue growing, and as they do, they start shedding 
also, my leo doesn't like his humid hide as much as his cool hide. he spends most of his day in the cool hide and just stands on top of the humid hide... so with both of our situations, i'm guessing it's not too bad that he doesn't like the humid hide as much - as long as they are getting adequate belly heat to assist in digestion and are shedding normally... then i guess it's ok

PS: when i took out the moss, my leo spent a lot more time in his humid hide, so now I just use moist paper towels
