Shedding, (and some other stuff)

XxJackalxX Oct 17, 2003 11:47 PM

OK I've heard lots of people talking about shedding and stuff. Well I was just wondering how often it happens and if theres anything special I need to do. Also, Sobek doesn't seem to like his humind hide much now that I put some new furnishings in, it used to be he favorite spot but now he likes to sit under a big fern leaf right below his heating lamp. Is that normal/safe?

when they're younger, leos can shed once every 3 to 6 weeks depending on age... as adults, it takes a month or a few months before it sheds again - leos continue growing, and as they do, they start shedding

also, my leo doesn't like his humid hide as much as his cool hide. he spends most of his day in the cool hide and just stands on top of the humid hide... so with both of our situations, i'm guessing it's not too bad that he doesn't like the humid hide as much - as long as they are getting adequate belly heat to assist in digestion and are shedding normally... then i guess it's ok hehe~ do you have a pic of your cage?

PS: when i took out the moss, my leo spent a lot more time in his humid hide, so now I just use moist paper towels
