Don't know that one. I haven't heard that any are endangered.

2) How large do they top out at? The one I'm thinking about will is arescrew sitation which leads to the next questions..'

It depends on the species you have. The C. similis is the largest, and C. pectinata gets up to maybe a few feet STL. Smaller species like C.paleras (sp) are smaller.

3) How can you fatten them up, it isnt emacated (yet) but it is skinny...

Feed a good iguana diet, and supplement with crickets once per week. Don't let it hold out for live prey only.

4) ominvious or herbavor? Recommended diet?

Fully grown C similis can take hoppers and peeps if it wants them, but not too often.

5) besides UVB, sizeable enclosure.. what type of care compaired to a green iguana? (I know it would be differnt but it's a good reference point..

Give it the same environment as a green ig needs, and it will be fine. Not much is written about the care of Ctenosaurus species.

6) Can any one post or direct me to pictures so I can make shure on the sp. and subsp. and any other info that I may need to know?

This site has pics of a number of different cten. species:

Thanks for all the help.. From looking at those pictures I hae to say thay it is Ctenosaura hemilopha, I would have to dubble check to make shure... what is every ones opion of feeding pinky and hopper rats to a rhino iguana?

will be to not feed rodents or animal protein to a Rhino. I don't do it, never have, probably never will. I feed my Cyclura iguanas the same diet that I feed my Green iguanas... lots of mixed leafy greens, shredded veggies, a little fruit, RepCal pellets as a supplement, and treats of whole wheat bread, plain cooked pasta, some plain cooked rice. My female Cuban, Doonie, used to get a superworm about 4 times a year!
In doing rescue, I've seen what a good amount of animal protein in the diet can do to a Green Iguana. It's not pretty.

Thanks for your help... I have looked at countless photos and I just need a second opion is this a similis? how big should he get (he is about 18" s-t)?

i think similis. also did you mean s-v "body lentgh"? looks to be pretty healthy maybe a little thin. are you sure it's a male? keep him in a large cage with a hot spot, uvb light, a hot a cool end hide box. i use clay pot bsae turned over and a hole broke out for entrance, if he consistantly chooses one you can remove the other they tend to use only one. i keep all mine on bucher paper and have branches for climbing and basking. i feed collared greens mixed veggies. and sprinkel on some zoo med dry iguana food every day and once a week i give crickets or mealworms. also similis grow to a round 3 or 4ft. you want his basking spot to be around 100. well i hope this helps. talk to ya chris.

No... I didn't mean s-v as in snount to vent, I used s-t meaning snout to tail (tip) or just simply total lenght... Has any one here ever used the Ecto-Therm products? They seem awesome, they claim that they don't use any fillers and it could be used a staple diet. But I know with most diets it matters mostly on if the animal likes it and will eat it...
