I have been amazed at how bold these guys are as hatchlings. Mine stay out in the open where you can see them all the time. They never burrow in their substrate or attempt to hide in any way no matter what time of day it is. They are brave and will usually stand their ground when I reach in to pick them up for cage cleaning, often striking rapidly 2 or 3 times but at their hatchling size it's funny.
I hope to pick up a pair from another bloodline ASAP.
