Anyone try Quickrete for a background...

Would this work for a dart tank? I've heard concrete can raise the PH too high. I may try this as it looks really easy, but I want to check on the toxicity of it.

yes I used It and it sucks. it releases a chemical smell for weeks and it makes the water feel all slippery... it is also very brittle and it loses all structural integrity when you mix in fern fiber or peat moss.

WOW, that bad? I'm not sure what I can going to try, but I plan to try the foam with something over it. Winterstone seems to get the best so far, but not as cheap. Anyone else have any ideas?

I used concrete bonding adhesive and peat/coco. Takes forever to dry, and you will have to fill in the cracks, but it looks great and will hold some water. This is spread over foam, of course

Nice, I am looking for for a rock type look. I want to use foam to get the rough idea, and then create a waterfall with premade holes for plants and etc.

This is not the most creative method, but you could use that Habi-scape rock wall, and drill holes in it...just an idea.

No I will be going for a much better look than those palstic rock walls.

My goal is this. Build a stand to hold 4 20gal high tanks. I hope to start this soon. Then the first tank will be a new tank for my leucs, as the tank they are in now, I do not like and it was my first tank. Then I will get 3 more and get them ready for future frogs.

Thanks i'm not allowed to post it here for opinions on it due to the rules. But I am allowed to keep it in my signature. I will add some more links when I get time and it should be a good ref for new people.

Its lighter, safer, easier to work with, and I think it looks a little better. There was a guy who sold a tank to the store that I work with that he used uickrete with. It was a bit of a nightmare.... it was damn heavy. I liked it at the time.... but the great stuff foam and the weldbond seems more suited to a dart tank. Plus, I was always afraid of all the lime used in the quickrete...and lets not forget any of the other chemicals.

I was thinking the same thing, but what is weldbond? What could I mix with it to make it more like rock than dirt wall? I plan to use foam as the rough background. I'd like to cover the back and one side and then in the corner of that side make a waterfall, with a couple pools. We will see, I have a good idea, but not sure what I want to use yet.
