Beardie Bites - Dragon food or bird food?

Hlynn1975 Oct 18, 2003 11:32 AM

I bought these at Streamwood a while ago and since my beardies love them I wanted to find some more locally without having to go all the way to Streamwood for a $3 box of food. Well, I've looked at every brand that I can find around here that sells bearded dragon pellets and nothing comes close. Zoomed, Kaytee, etc... I did however find that the stuff I bought looks exactly like Kaytee's small parrot food.

What do you guys think? Does anyone here know of a bearded dragon food that looks like this or have I been feeding my baby dragons bird food?

Thanks,
Heather

That looks like the bird food I feed my bird. Yes, I think that you've been feeding bird food!!! I never seen any beardie pellets that look like those either. Why don't you call the place you bought those.

I thought the same thing...Zupreem. It looks exactly like it. Does it smell real strongly of bananas?

So, do you guys think this is safe or should I switch to beardie food right away? I mean my beardies seem to like it and are growning well. And you wouldn't believe the colors of their plummage! lol

""And you wouldn't believe the colors of their plummage! lol""

So you're growing those rare, feathered dragons? Cool!

With Continued study perhaps we can find proof that birds really are modern great gand children of T-Rex and the gang....

Hmmm.... cross a BD with a Frill and add part parrot ?

If you get some of the bird food at the pet store, read the ingredients. It will most likely be veggie in content. Match stuff like protein, fiber, vitamins...Do you wet it or feed it dry?

I have looked at some of the stuff made for turtles and iguanas. They make a soft, gel food for turtles.
