Another Question:

I got my male Arg. black and white from Bert Langerwerf
the day before Thanksgiving. He has grown like a weed!
I've never seen any animal grow this fast! BUT the growth seems
to have drastically slown or even stopped. He seems stuck at
five pounds and abbout 3 1/2 feet long. His tail is fat.

His diet is approximately the following:
Mostly whole mice and now whole small quail (2 weeks I think)
He also gets eggs and ground turkey. I mix fruit and
shreded sweet potato or carrot and a vitamin/calcium
supliment with the turkey. Sometimes he'll eat straight fruit.
He gets food almost everyday!

According to what
I've read a male Arg B&W should top out around 15 lbs and
4 plus feet!

What gives?

some just dont get as big. give him some time i bet he'll start up again. if its female, then it MIGHT be done growing. if you have just gotten it not too long ago and as a baby then it will start growing again. i got Taz from Bert he is 2yrs 9months old, has hibernated for a full year of his life and is 4'6" and around 20lbs. i got him february 23, 2001 as a 16" lizard. he shot off like a weed as you said. slowed down in growth tremendously then all of the sudden exploded growing faster than ever and has slowed down almost to a stop once again. he grows about 1 inch every 2-3 months. maybe he'll hit 5' he's the biggest tegu iv seen and is awesome to keep. im hoping to get an argentine red tegu from Bert once he starts selling them. iv been to Berts place 3 times and he has the best tegus iv ever seen and has been doing it longer then anyone i know and probly the smartest man i know. just some thoughts later

my digi cam broke, it was like a $450 one too... not happy about that, but once i get another i will post pics. when that is i dont know. im using my money on feeding Taz and my other monitors. maybe see if i can borrow a friends.
