Why are my geckos fighting?

natediggity Oct 18, 2003 12:36 PM

I have a pair of geckos that fight quite often as of late. They are visually sexable. 1 male and 1 female. They are around 7 months old and I have housed them together since they were around 3 months old. The female is around 67g and the male is 47g. The male always seems to have bite marks on him as does the female occasionally. I have never seen mating activity so I don't think thats whats going on. I seem them snap at each other often. Should I seperate them, or is it normal? Or maybe the female is resisting mating? I don't know, any comments or people that have had this happen to them, I would appreciate feed back.

Thanks,

Nate

is that your male is attempting to breed with your female, and she's just not having it. i have one pair together right now, and the male is PERSISTANT, he just doesn't get the idea, but everytime he goes for it, my female is putting him right in his place lol. But yeah, things can get pretty aggressive if the female doesn't want to breed.

Ok, thanks. Any suggestions, should I remove the female and try again later?
