Portland Area froggers don't waste your time and money

Krobar Oct 18, 2003 01:15 PM

I just came from the unique animal show at Washington County fair grounds. Not a single display had dart frogs or supplies specific to them. I was very disappointed in the show and the west coast suppiers after so many were there last year. I had $500 in my pocket and had hoped to pick up some suppies and a couple new frogs. What happened to you guys?

I would suspect that it's because Northwest Frog Fest is only two weeks away.

Some people's schedules don't allow for taking that whole day off the drive four hours one way to be there, as much as I'd like to.

Yeah, I'd love to go to but I'm in Maryland. Try to explain that "little" road trip to the wife!

anyone know of shows in the southeast? I am near Atlanta, and hardly ever see banners for them here.

Thanks

Well, I guess I'm lucky there. IAD is only 45minutes away for me.
Getting the IAD "budget" past the her will be the real test.

I hear ya, its a bit of a drive for me, but so far I am planning on going. Do you think a lot of people will offer pairs of frogs?

Hi, my name is John Gibeau from Tincs.com. Jennifer and I live in Marysville Wa, and are sorry to hear that you were disappointed in the pickings at the show you attended. I am assuming that you are talking about the Hillsboro show, I am not aware of the name of the fairgrounds.

I have attended this show in the past, and I must say that the way that the "reptile and amphibian" people are treated is in my opinion quite poor in comparison to the bird and other exotics, or was at least to me. We were crammed back into a little room, the place was dirty, and seemed somewhat poorly lighted, heated, and appeared all around disheveled. therefore, it is not a show that I go out of my way to attend; the only reason that we attend the CB Expo in Puyallup WA is it is really close (though we did really well this year, and will attend next year); that is not a frog friendly show really, either.

Frogs are catching on, but still have a long way to go before they have the popularity of the snakes and lizards - Remember that unfortunately these things are driven by money; and there is no real money to be made in dart frogs, and that is all there is to it.

Jennifer and I would both be more than happy to have you come up here, spend the day, look at the frog room, see our setups, etc etc. That is I believe the best forum for buying frogs anyway. Our e-mail is info@tincs.com, and you can contact us there to setup a time to come up any time you want to.

The northwest captive breeders show the 11th of this month. There were quite a few nice darts there. I'm sure there will be a bunch at frogfest.
