Veiled Chameleon help needed

monocledcobra Oct 18, 2003 01:23 PM

The other day when my female veiled (2 years old) was climbing the screen on her enclosure, she lost one of her claws. It did bleed a little bit. Is there anything I can do to help her, or will the claws grow back.

Also, is there any way to see if it was infected or how to make sure it does not get infected?

thanks from

Generally if a nail has been "pulled" out, it won't grow back, but if it's just partially damaged it may regenerate some. You can put small dabs of Neosporin on the injured nail to help prevent infection. Call your vet if it starts looking worse rather than better. You may also wish to reconsider your choice of screen.
