Feeding juvenile Gargoyles...

geckoman_nl Oct 18, 2003 02:12 PM

Hello.
Is it a good idea to try and feed juvenile gargoyles soleyly on crickets?
Even so how many should they be eating and how often (eg every other day?)

If they will willingly eat crix go for it! Aurics have a big sweet tooth and can easily get over weight on a predominately fruit diet. So you have to be careful what you feed them and how much. Aurics under a year should be feed daily-every other day, as they get older every 3 days or so. You could also supplement the diet with the GGD (gargoyle gecko diet); if they take it and you choose to do that. Just remember it is usually easier to get them off crix then it is to get them back on…lol. Best of Luck.

LOL thanks for your help Mike, what sort of fruits do you recommend? And how do I go about placing it? Is there a certain place in the tank to put it. ie up high?

Any type of nectar fruit they really like, such as peaches, mangos, guavas, pears, etc. You can really place it anywhere in the cage, they have a good sense of smell when it comes to fruit and can locate it pretty easily. Best of Luck and let me know how it goes .
