Yesterday, I went to check on a leo of a friend's, who had been injured. SHe is a school teacher, and one of the kids dropped at 1lb/2lb (not sure exactly how much it weighed) rock on it. It dropped it's tail, and she said it had a cut, so I went to look at it. Well, when I got there, there was more than a cut... there was a huge gash about 1/2 an inch wide in it's lower abdomen. I wrapped him in paper towels because he was bleeding, and was about to leave to take him to the vet, when he opened his mouth VERY wide, and I heard a squirting noise. His intestines and stomache squirted out onto my hand. It was SOOOO nasty. I know the vet can't do anything for that, and if she could, the teacher wasn't going to pay for it. So I put him in the freezer. Goodthing I have an extra leo, I got from work for free. I'm going to give that one to her to replace the nasty one. This time, NO KIDS TOUCHING THE LEO WITHOUT SUPERVISION!!!!
