Lester,
I was out in your neck of the woods (or lack of wooods yesterday just checking things out. Pretty interesting area. I looked at two different sites, both north on the 15 of V-ville. At the first site I found quite a bit of sign in one area but didn't spot a living DHL. This site had a predominate population of P. Cali ants. I only observed two hills of P. Rugosus. I also saw what I believe was a fringe toed lizard but am not positive. It had large rear feet. Interesting.

The second site was off Dale Evans rd. Where all the atv's ride. Nobody was there and it was very quiet but I could tell it probably gets lively on the weekends. Here the ant populations observed were strictly P. Rugosus and were reflected in the HL sign observed. Again, no live specimens found but it was the wrong time of day.
This area is very nice and I intend to come back when I have more time and head out more from civilization to see what I can see.

Do you have any study sites in the off-road areas? Just curious.
Cheers!

Cable-off the 74 in Riverside I have observed horned lizards north of the 15 frwy, where they have the painted rocks that look like vegetables there is a place there that is pretty much horned lizard area, I think most of them are going down forthe count, although you might still find a baby, I've found them on vacation with my son during Thanksgiving before as I think I previously mentioned, In the riverside area I have not gotten that technical about the ant specie, but they do have the reds and also a large black ant of which I have fed to Granite Spineys in the past and they eat them up.....

Hey Reptoman,
I was just through there today. I'd have stopped if I'd have known. (had a hard time getting home due to the fire. I wonder how many HL's burned up in that mess?

I was looking for Desert Horned lizards up by Victorville. I plan on a trip there this weekend to see what I can see and take some photos if I do see anything.
Any hints about that area, time of day, etc.,,?
I figure the morning is going to be the best opportunity. It has been so freakin hot lately!
Cheers!
