Bringing bearded dragons across from Canada to US

kameron Feb 08, 2003 03:29 PM

Does anyone know the laws/regulations about bringing bearded dragons across into the US from Canada? I have a friend that wants me to take her beardies, but she lives in Calgary and I live in Texas. Can she ship them from Canada or can she drive them across and ship them from the US or how does it work? I've never done a cross-country-border shipping.

Thanks, Kameron

You should find the answers to most of your questions on my info page
linked below..
There are two ways to do it, she can fly them to you, and you can arrange the inspeciton
providing you live near a designated port where F&W are stationed, or the Canadian can apply for
a US import/export license and exception from designated port permit, and drive them across by car
arranging in advance for the inspection on the US side.. Once legally in the US, they can be flown
to any airport and no further inspections will be needed..
One of you must have an import/export license, and all animals entering or leaving the US must be inspected.
This will cost you some money..55US for the inspection, 50US for the license, and 25 for the exception
from designated port permit, if she goes that route to bring them over by car
