beardie and rankins comparison

Schwan May 28, 2003 05:16 PM

here is my bearded dragon and my rankin's dragon sitting together in the tub. now, remember that my bearded is only 13 inches long, and that at almost two years old. i have often wondered if she were the offspring of a beardie and a rankin's...just because she never grew up.

notice the different shaped heads...the rankins has a smaller tummy, and muted black spots on the neck...and smaller and fewer spikes...he also really doesn't have a "beard."

enjoy!

Thanks =)
How old is your rankin in that pic?
Would love to see some pics of when they were young..
it seems like it would be easy to tell the difference once they are older.. its when they are babies that Im sorta lost.

oh...sorry...i only got the rankin a couple of months ago. i believe he is fully grown =(

however, here is a photo of moltar when she was a baby...

...it does seem as though her head were rounder back then...kinda like she developed the triangular head as she grew...does your babies have the dark black spots?

oh, and if you go to the photo galleries (i was just poking around in there) and so to search username for "starmom", i found some great baby rankins photos. it really is harder to tell the difference when they are that small, though...

A female topped out at 13 in. , woah!!! females tend to be the bigger of the two sexes. Are you sure shes a female? I would double checkand sex and if you already have do it again.

ps. your dragons look cool, I like the rankins, if you can give mesomemore infoon them that would be great.

My male topped out at 14 inches, but for all I know he is a vittikins (inland/rankins cross). I talked to a vet tech who also has a small female. I think the odds are better that we all just have tiny beardies, but who knows :P. I've never been able to find a pic of a confirmed vittikins for comparison.
