Generally cat chow is higher in protein than dog chow. Use the dry type. It's a good idea to grind-up the chow to make it easier for the roaches to eat.

I use high quality dog food. Since I have a dog and cats, I steal from them. I use brand Authority Senior Dog Food and Iams Cat Food. I would avoid any brands that use red dye. Other brands considered high quality are Eukanuba, Science Diet, Nature's Recipe, etc.

You can use a coffe grinder to grind up the food you use into bite size chunks. The food I feed my orange spotted and discoid roaches are Authority senior dog food ground, rice baby cereal, ground oat meal, wheat germ, and ground fish food whole shrimp types. I also supplement with fruits and veges.
