By breeding two blizzards together.

Hey,

Actually you'll need to breed a blizzard to a patternless animal. By doing this you'll create a double het (meaning that the babies will have both recessive genes for patternless animals and blizzards).... By breeding the two siblings together you'll produce a couple of babies, usually about 1 out of 16 will be the banana blizzard morph... But by doing this the pair will also be able to produce normal blizzard and patternless babies as well. Hope that helped...

a "banana blizzard" is actually a high yellow blizzard, Prehistoric Pets says so. They have proved them to not carry the patternless gene. The banana blizzard is hatched at a 1:50 ratio from a colony of white blizzards. A true banana blizzard has been hatched by Kelli and I believe she has proven her to produce blizzards and patternless. I also believe it was harder to produce then you think, definitly a larger ratio then 1:16.

sweet, sweet... always learning something new... - but if they (banana blizzards) are able to produce patternless as well as blizzards then that would have to prove that they also carry the patternless gene somewhere in the bloodline.... So somewhere down the line they would have had to have bred the two specimens together.... or at the very least gotten ahold of a pair with the recessive genes for the patternless animals... I'm not 100% possitive here, but in order to produce a certain phase you'd have to have a recessive gene? But to get that wouldn't they have had to have bred the two (patternless/blizzard) together?

They hatched out some high yellow blizzards and thought... 'patternless blizzards!' I guess and did start crossing some into the line. So perhaps some of the banana bliz leos do have het patternless in there.
There were some nasty comments tho from people who crossed these banana blizzards with patternless leos and didn't get patternless babies. That's when P.Pets realized it was something different. Jay had told me this PERSONALLY last year when I asked him about getting a patternless to breed my own bananas.

However...the leo that Kelli hatched out is simply amazing. That's the only real way to describe it. Blizzard body and black head with yellow patternless 'splotches' on his body and neck. Really a neat animal. I've never seen one like it before.

sounds like an astonishing gecko indeed. I was just stating the way that I managed to get my bananas, and these too are very beautiful critters... .. but no matter what the phase, morph or genetic mutation, a leopards a leopard... the all ROCK...

Go to blizzardlizard.com and click on the about option in the website... this is Prehistoric Pets partner site and you'll see that the banana blizzard is indeed a cross between a double het... Patternless crossed with a Blizzard... Thought so but wasn't sure, so had to check on it again... I produced banana phased blizzards this same way this year, so I was pretty sure this was the correct way...

Their site hasnt been updated for a while. A few people on here have gotten e-mails from PP saying that the banana blizzard is indeed just a high-yellow blizzard.

Cool... So has anyone crossed the banana blizzards with the Albino's yet??? If so, what are they gonna be? Banana Blazing Blizzard Lizards? That'd be a sweet gecko to check out if any of'em are being produced yet...

Josh06 May 29, 2003 10:01 AM

You would just get all normals dbl het. for Albino and Blizzard or Blazing Blizzard. Since the banana blizzard is just a high-yellow blizzard it would still be the same as crossing a regular blizzard to an albino. Same results.
