Please help.. Gecko Stoped eating!

spikedsparkles Oct 18, 2003 08:57 PM

Ok i posted a while back about this and people sayed just wait because he should start agin.. but its been over two weeks, and he has no interest in food.. See this all started when i was cleaning out his cage, and i had put him in a rubber maid while i was outside cleaning. I had a lid on it but aperently it wasn't on good and he got out, and i found him in the next room.. So ever sence then he spends all his time trying to get out.. As soon as he hears me in the room he runs out and trys to get out agin.. I've had him well over a year. and he's full grown. (9inches about).. I've tryed every type of food i could come up with.

I can't find a vet that knows anything about reptiles around here.. i live in such a rual town its like 20 minets from the closet city, and there isn't any vet with knolage there eather. My friend had to drive to texas for his snake. because of the lack of vets here, and it died there.

He's starting to show weight loss.. although not much, but i can tell.. although no one else can.

If anyone has any idea what i can do for him, force feeding? type of food? anything.. please help!

my leo also tries to climb the glass walls of his tank, although unsuccessful. i guess he just wants to do a bit more exploring.. let him roam around your arms and do some exploring on your couch or bed... satisfy his urges hehee!

and about the feeding, try giving him ONE or TWO wax worms... he'll probably jump to eating that and then it'll add a little bit of weight on him... then add some superworms or meal worms... if he doesn't go for it - then you might want to force feed by putting mealworm guts into a syringe and feeding him.. hopefully that will entice his appetite and make him want to eat more.

good luck
