Is it possible to feed a baby gecko baby food?

alebron Oct 18, 2003 09:28 PM

I heard some people do it because it is high in vitamins.

leos are mainly insectivorious. crested geckos and other rhacadactilus can eat baby food but it does even get them obese at time. i would stick to crickets and mealies

Sometimes it become neccesary to feed geckos by hand when they are having problems or need meds administered.

In this case chicken babyfood can be used to assist the gecko, expecially if it has gotten too weak to hunt on its own. You could add some crix or mealworm guts to it to help out, but for a short time the chicken will get the leo back over the hump.

I hand fed a leo I got that was on deaths door when received. I did this for 5-6 weeks before it refused the bb food. "FINE!" I told it, tossed in 3 each of crix and mw's. The next morning two crix and one mw were gone. She ate on her own for over three years before falling ill again and did not recover.

But, just to do it with no valid reason, NO, best to let them hunt and eat on their own.
