does anyone know if these burn off any more electricity then a zoomed heat pad for a 10-20 gallon or how much a human heat pad burns period

They will burn whatever you have them on.
I've used human heating pads for years and have burnt nothing. The only thing that has happened is a plastic bottomed terrarium I have has melted a little due to the built up heat(I didn't have it raised any to let heat escape). That was after using it for a year and a half, and it never created a fire hazard. I've used them on wood and melamine-type pressed wood and inside plastic drawers with no ill effects. I would actually trust a human heating pad over some reptile heaters, but that's my personal opinion. Go with what works for you and try to get as many people's experiences as possible.

I have had BAD experiences with them, that's all. And I would reccomend an UTH
I had an UTH that cracked the tank underneath, and I even had it raised for ventilation...As far as the human heat pad, you can hook it up to a rheostat or maybe even a thermostat?? But there are ways to test them to see the heat levels they provide...the nice thing is, for human heat pads, you can increase and decrease the heat during the seasons...
