worms and stopping the smell

louis6 Oct 18, 2003 11:18 PM

I really doubt that my beardie has worms but he just doesnt seem all that excited about anything anymore. He is still eating well, growing like a mad man, and sorting himself out (testostorone rage, puffs out beard but not threatning). He really needs a bigger cage, he is in a 20 gal. long and he is about 16 inches. I was about to buy one last month but I couldnt make it to this show where i thought i was going to buy it. Maybe he just needs some more stilmulation and is bored.

And this is a problem that Im having serious issues with my family about: the smell. I was going to keep my beardie in the basement but my parents didnt finish the basement like they said they would and I have to keep it in my room. Does anyone know any safe reptile products that would help keep the smell to a minimum. My parents keep complaining, but dont worry, they cant make me sell my beardie because I got the beardie before the house and they said it would work out.

thanks.

I'm not understanding why your beardie would smell. If it's poop is that bad, it probably does have parasites or coccidia.
I don't even know my dragons have pooped unless I see it.
Something is definately not right.

I don't understand the smell.
Either you never clean your tank out or your beardie is far from healthy.
If you clean the tank after your beardie poops and it is the poop that smells that bad it is a good indicater that something is wrong. If you don't clean the tank out as soon as you see waste then you are not doing YOUR job. Get a fecal sample to a vet, get a larger enclosure and make sure to keep the tank clean.

little fast to blame me... And yes i clean the cage reugularly and get the poop out as soon as i see it (or smell it really). I thought all beardie's poop smelled, so I will need to find a vet that does fecals and fix that...

I have a beardie that eats an unreasonable amount of veggies. I have had fecals done and my vet says he is fine. He has really smelly poo. (Which is why I had a fecal done.) Our vet says that his poo is smelly and less hard because he is mostly a veggie eater, and so large. Has anyone else heard of this?
