Pictures of my leopard gecko...

kyle_gecko Oct 19, 2003 01:19 AM

This is the baby leo my girlfriend gave me on my birthday a few days ago. I breed leopard geckos and corn snakes before but ended up selling away my collection. She got her for me from a local pet shop prolly why her tail is skinny. I will fatten it up in no time. I decided to start keeping and maybe even breeding leopard geckos again, they were always my favorite of all my snakes and lizards i once owned. On sunday I am taking a 2 hour drive to a breeder he has some albino babys for a good price gona buy 2 females i think. This leopard gecko here just got done shedding today, it looks like a female to me but still to young to tell for sure. I am not really sure what phase it would be considered, anyone have any idea? I was surprised it was not a normal looking baby because it came from a local pet shop and i have never seen anything other then normals there. Well anyway i will try to get better pictures soon, these are from a older dig camera. sorry about that....i will try to borrow my cousin for a while he just got a 5 pixel one a week ago heh
I named her Jade

Thanks she looks alot better then in the pictures..i will be sure to post a clearer picture with a good dig camera soon..
Well i dont want to make her sick so I am gona just feed her mealwoms and maybe a few wax worms once every few weeks till she gets up to par in weight.
As for yours he looks really great as he is but a few wax worms or maybe even a pinkey would put some weight on him...
I havn't had reptiles for about 2 years so i am not to sure if pinkeys are still fed to leopards or not, but i used them during breeding season for the females and they worked great. (just 1 per female)

yah i'm thinking about adding a wax worm as a treat once every other week - my only problem is them turning into bugs before i can feed them to my leo they only come in containers of 50 and i just wanna buy 2! hehee!!

also, pinkies are still fed to adult and breeding leos as a treat to add on some weight, although they tend to have a higher risk of bacterial infections and parasites. i know people still feed them at their own discretion, but when my leo is an adult, i know i wouldn't be feeding him pinky mice

i'm glad jade was brought into a good home and away from the stresses of the pet store

get a fecal done and keep her quarenteened for your other (potential LOL) geckos until you know she good and healthy! she looks like she is goning to be a real sweeties.

aimee- as far as fattening up a young leo it generally doesnt take very long (assuming the gecko is eatingand parasite free))you will generally notice a huge improvement by the second week or so. i would feed these guys every other day.. give them a variety of mealies and crix and if they are large enough offer em a pinkie once a month also you can offer em a few waxies every few weeks. but on a feeding schedule like this you will notice weight gain in a couple of weeks. make sure and gut load you insects well for maximum nutrition as well.-

That is pretty weird that she came from a petstore. I saw a patternless baby once at Petco. The guy who worked there let me go into the storage room to see it, because he was saving it to buy himself.

Before you get anymore leos, it might be a good idea to get a fecal done for Jade.
