i have a water dragon that i've had for about 1 year and a half now. i've been feeding him crickets, mealworms, and sometimes he'll eat some greens but i really want him to start eating mice cuz i wanna get him used to eating other things besides insects. now evertime, i put a pinky infront of him, he closes his eyes and totally ignores me. i would leave the pinky there sometimes..but he jus won't touch it. if anybody has any suggestions please help. thanks.

Are the mice dead or alive. My WD WOULD NOT eat anything that did not move. If she couldn't chase it, she wanted nothing to do with it. I had to drive about an hour to get live mice to feed her and that was the only way she would eat them. And it didn't work if I just shook a dead one, apparently she was to smart for that!

I have a female that just plainly refuses to eat mice. If I out one in from of her she closes her eyes and backs away from it while my other female and male love mice.

how big do they have to be to eat mice? I have a female who is about 3 years old,who i've adopted. she wasnt very well taken care of in her old house, and has a little jaw deformity form roserubbing in her tank(it was only a 30 gallon!)Because of all this, she has only grown 1 ft. should i see if shell eat mice or pinkies?if so,then how long do you wait for the next meal. She takes crickets like a champ, and i wont mess with superworms or mealworms becaus eof a bad experience with my iguana eating them.

ok to eat a pinky id say they need to be at least 10 inches long. my tegu are 15 inches and they eat fuzzies. my bearded is 12 inches and he eats pinkies. since yr WD is a foot id go with one pinky every 2 days. and for the other person i would say or getting yr WD to eat mice, what i did was tear the mouses skin on its stomach (mine were forzen so dont go thinking im cruel) id spill the moses guts in front of my lizards. after a second or 2 they would smell the guts and plunge right at it and thrash it around then swallow it. but DONT feed them mice every day. if u do a lizard will grow to fast causing it to be prone to more diseases, also lizards eyes dont grow with there heads. its eays will be too small for its head and it will look funny.
