What can you tell me about a WHITE-LIPPED PYTHON???

Alan Oct 19, 2003 12:22 PM

Looking for some info on the White-lipped Python, found them to be beautiful, and desirable, but hear they are nasty biters. Anyone have any info they can provide for me on this python.
Thank you.

Hey,
White lips are awesome snakes averaging around 4-6 for a golden and 6-8 for the blacks. At first babies can be pretty nippy but its nothing big, they calm down after about 6 months of age. They are quiet arboreal and tend to need quiet a bit of space in hieght and in length. A 3'L x 2'W x 3'T should work for a big adult. They are rodent feeders like most snakes....but wc induviduals will eat birds also (well i guess a cb would take a chick er two if you gave it to em ). They should have a temp about 80-95 degrees in the day and should drop about 10-15 in the night(needs good ambiant heating). Humidity should be pretty high like 50-60 percenI like using cypress or news paper for subrate. Good strong branches are needed in the cage. Also I do not recommened wc caught induviduals they can be quiet agrssive and quiet hard to acclimate. I really dont know what else I can tell ya. But if theres any questions email me.

Good luck

I have 1.2 CB 2001 gold WLP
the 2 females are very nasty, and bite whatever thing they see. the male is very tame. he is grown like a puppy, handled often.
they are very good eaters and eat without any problem frozen mice, chicken parts or chicks.

I have a wild caught female. She isnt aggressive and has never bitten me. But beware: they hiss uncontrolably (sss sssss sss ss etc etc) and have the meanest, longest heads in the biz!
