Missing Spikes on Tail

Rictor Oct 19, 2003 02:13 PM

My uro had a so so shed not so long ago and is still retaining very little on the back and underbelly but on his tail some spikes are either missing or they are tiny spikes--Just wondering if this is normal and if the spikes will eventually grow? I have been bathing recently in warm water for about 20 min. using shed ease.

thanks

If you have been bathign your uro and havent been completely drying the tail it probably has tail rot. more information would help, but my guess is tail rot.
Good luck

Just the sound of that "tail rot" sounds horrible--I'm going to read up about it now. If I can't find anything useful is there anything I can do that you know of to get red of it or is this something only the vet can handle?

My Uros tail is only missing about 4-6 spikes the ones that are missing have either no spike there or a tiny little spike. I'm not sure what other info would be useful about his tail, other than that it looks healthy.

thank you

tail rot cannot be cured. And it does sound like that is what it is.
You can read up on it or ask more questions about it.

I read up on it but it's hard to be clear exactly what it is--I'm going to post a pic of his tail this afternoon as soon as I get home from work.(which is where I am now hush)

Hopefully after looking at the pic it will be easier to tell either way Vet tomorrow but I'd like opinions here too.

again thanks
