Hey,

This species is not at all like keeping whites. Waxy's for one need their cage to be bone dry with the exception of a water dish where they can soak their belly's. This is how they absorb water. They are called waxy's because they secret a waxy substance through their skin, and spread it over their body to prevent moisture from excaping. Misiting these animals can actually do a lot of harm, make them very sick, or kill them. They also like a basking site, with a temp around 85-90. I keep a heat lamp on mine for around 9 hours a day. I have a painted waxy. You have probably heard this before, but please next time do your research before buying the animal, it would have really helped this time! E-mail me with any further questions, kristenm40@hotmail.com. And let me know how it goes with your new Waxy.

P. bicolor are not kept same as P. sauvagei. As you mentioned before, sauvagei need to be kept dry, but bicolor are not from gran chaco area of south america, but more of the rainforests. Many people keep them in green houses or other places with about medium humidity. I don't have any yet, but plan to get some in the future. Not a good frog for beginers, because they should be bred by their owner and are hard to breed in captivity. For more info, check out my site, there's a P. bicolor care sheet.
