Call the city/county animal control to find out what the local laws are, and make sure you record the exact name of the person you talked with and when you called, for a reference.
Also contact Texas Parks & Wildlife to see what's legal/illegal at a state level.

The Dallas/Fort Worth Herp Society might have some information as well, as sometimes the Herp Societies know the rules better than the agencies that enforce them.

Your state USDA office can advise you on what's banned in your state and what's not. They can also advise the permit required species too.
Are you sure about this? The USDA doesn't really get involved with reptiles, other than requiring health certificates for three species of African tortoises before they cross state lines. Most of the USDA people I've talked with have no clue about reptile laws.

go to municode.com. It has the code of ordinance listed for Grand Prairie. Go to Online Codes and select Texas. The list of cities they have codes for will come up. After you select your city, the code section and chapters will come up on the left. Your chapter for animals is number 5.
