PVC caves

RayGun Oct 19, 2003 10:11 PM

My mali uro LOVES his pvc pipe cave. I went to a hardware store and got a large three hole joint-like piece, so he has several of escape routes. I had read somewhere that they don't really make tunnels and caves but inhabit abandoned ones. He's never gone potty in it and it's easy to clean and I don't have to worry about rot or buggies. I did tie on some half logs to the top outer part so he has something to grip when he crawls over the top of them. He's never slept a night outside of it and usually conks out at the entrance with his head poking out. I've seen pics here of enclosures with only basking rocks, so I thought I'd throw in how much mine loves his tunnel.

Good to know! I am in the planning stages of building an outside habitat for my three Mali's, and I was planning on using PVC for the caves. I was thinking of fencing in an area in my back yard (I live in the desert of Arizona), but realize I'll probably never see them again as they tend to run and hide when you approach! So I was thinking of building something of plywood that I could actually have access to every area of the habitat. Anyone have any good photo's or ideas on how to do this?
Much appreciation!
Beth from Arizona
