For Mattman: Shelf Liner Subtrate Question

khandof Oct 19, 2003 11:39 PM

Mattman, can you please post a pic of one of your setups in which you use shelf liner? I tried use shelf liner in my tank and it didn't work out. I think I got the wrong type, plus my beardie pulled up the liner and used it for a blanket when she fell asleep. I wanted to use sand as a subtrate, but I think my beardie is too young (she 4 months and 10 inches), and it's too much of a hassle to clean. Can you please help?

Thanks,
Khandof

I'm not Mattman, but have you tried to outdoor/indoor carpet? I got mine from Home Depot for about $.50 a square foot. I can actually vacuum it and crickets can't get underneath.

not sure if mattman does this, but I use a few pieces of scotch tape to hold down the edges of the plastic table cloth (not the same as shelf liner but would work with that). I am also positive mattman has posted pics of his setup before, should be able to find it by doing a search for his name in the photo gallery.

Just found the company that makes the ones I buy at Walmart online. Copy and paste http://www.duckproducts.com/products/detail.asp?catid=5&subid=24&plid=105

It comes in 12 inch and 20 inch sizes. Some of my cages are 4x2 so I just cut them to size and over lap where needed. I still cover one cage per liner, which is real cheap if you get them at the dollar store. It has a semi tacky bottom but if your dragon is a digger you might need to tape the ends with double sided tape, and that should hold it down better. Mine don't dig too much, and if you have glass tanks just moisten the underside a bit and it will stay perfectly flat and no bugs get under if cut properly to size. I leave a bit longer on the sides so a bit goes up the wall so nothing gets underneath them. If you hit mystical dragons you can see 2 set ups with it on the bottom, and I will post the kind I got at the dollar store, a different brand then the link I told you to copy and paste, but the same product for cheaper at the dollar store.

Here is a pic with it on the bottom
